    Overcoming the dominance of commercial fisheries associations and lobby

    Shark conservation is seen as a niche topic and not well understood
  • Consequence:
    Loss of biodiversity
  • Solution:
    Direct involvement in government decisions and policy creation

I have been working in collaboration with other NGOs on shark fin trade bans all over the world. Starting in Hawaii in 2010, the California, Guam, Northern Marianas, Marshall Islands, then Florida, and currently, in Brussels, Belgium, advocating the EU wide fin trade ban.
