Help Sea Sharks (HHH) is a Norwegian organization started by marine biologist Fredrik Myhre in 2010 that works for better management of the world's shark populations.
HHH wants to establish a national legislation against the import of illegal shark fins to Norway. As of today, there is no legislation that protects heavily taxed shark species worldwide from illegal fishing, something we want to do something about - and we need your help. We are also working to disseminate our method to the European market for shark fins, and then put a total international pressure on the largest market in Southeast Asia.
The scale of threats to the sea and its wildlife has seen a sharp increase in recent decades. Technological advances have opened up for larger and more efficient fishing fleets, often targeting areas previously considered out of reach. Littering and pollution are becoming an increasing global problem. And the shark fin industry has increased in size, which has led to many shark species now being in direct danger of disappearing from the world's oceans forever. Once rich wilderness is now being looted at an alarming rate, often without thinking about the consequences this will have for the future. The serious lack of public awareness of the current situation at sea can quickly mean an ecological catastrophe unparalleled in human history.
